How to keep Mods updated on Your ARK Server

If you’re running an ARK: Survival Evolved server with mods, you’ll occasionally need to update them when new versions are released. This guide will walk you through how to safely update your mods on your ChipHead Server.

Important: Before making any changes or deleting files, always create a full backup of your server in case something goes wrong. You can follow our guide:

Step 1: Stop Your Server

Log in to your ChipHead Panel and Stop your server before making any modifications.

1. Log in to your ChipHead Panel.

   

2. Stop your server.

   

Step 2: Locate Your Mods Folder

1. From the ChipHead Panel, go to the Files section.

   

2. Navigate to the following directory:

   /ShooterGame/Content/Mods

Step 3: Select the Mods to Update

Inside the Mods folder, you’ll see several subfolders named after Mod IDs and their matching .mod files.

• To update specific mods, select only those folders and their matching .mod files.

• To update all mods, select every file and folder except the following base map and system files:

  

These files shown above are part of the base game and should not be deleted.

Step 4: Delete the Old Mod Files

After selecting the correct mod folders and files, click Delete and confirm the action. This removes the outdated mod data from your server.

Step 5: Restart Your Server

Start your server again from the ChipHead Panel.

On first launch, your server may take longer to start than usual. This is normal — ARK will automatically download and verify the latest versions of the mods from the Steam Workshop.

You can monitor the progress through your server console or by checking your server’s status in the Steam Server Viewer.
