Adding Admins To Your Valheim Server

Summary

To manage your Valheim server in-game (ban, kick, or unban players), you must have admin access. A server administrator can remove players or other admins from the server but cannot add new admins without access to the server files.

How to Add a Player as Admin

1. Log in to your ChipHead Panel and stop your server.

   
   

2. Go to the Files tab.

   

3. Navigate to /.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/adminlist.txt.

4. Add the player’s SteamID64 to the file, ensuring there is one ID per line.

   

5. Click Save Content.

   

6. Start/restart your server.

   

The player you added will now have admin privileges on your Valheim server.

How to Enable Console Commands on Your Client

Once you have added yourself as an admin, you need to enable console commands on your client to use them.

1. Open your Steam Library.

2. Right-click on Valheim and select Properties.

   

3. Under Launch Options (in the General tab), type the following:
   -console

   

Note:
The hyphen (-) must be included, or the command will not work.

After doing this, launch Valheim, press F5 to open the console, and you’ll be able to use admin commands on your ChipHead Valheim Server.
