Resetting Your 7 Days to Die World

Guide on how to reset your 7D2D sever

There may come a time when you want to start fresh in 7 Days to Die - maybe you don’t like your spawn location or just want a brand new challenge.

With ChipHead, resetting your server world is simple. You can either delete your current world completely or create a new one while keeping the old world saved in case you’d like to revisit it later.

Important: Once you delete your world, it’s gone for good - all progress will be permanently lost. To stay safe, always create a backup of your world through the ChipHead Panel before making any major changes.

Changing Your Server World

You can easily switch worlds from your 7 Days to Die server settings in the ChipHead Panel:

  1. Open the ChipHead Panel and Stop your server.

  2. Navigate Game Config.

  3. Click on </>Raw to access the serverconfig.xml file.

  4. Find the GameName property and next to value= and within the quotation marks, change it to the name you’d like your new world to have.

  5. Click Save.

To return to your previous world later, simply change the GameName back to its original value.
  6. Start/restart your server.

Deleting Your Server World

If you’d rather remove your existing world completely - perhaps to reuse the same world name or clear everything for a clean start - follow these steps:

  1. Open the ChipHead Panel and Stop your server.

  2. Navigate to Files.

  3. Navigate to /.local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves, then open your map’s folder.

  4. Select your world files and delete them.

If you also want to clear all player data, whitelist/blacklist entries, admins, and game rules, delete the files profiles.sdf and serveradmin.xml.

That’s it! You’ve successfully reset your 7 Days to Die server world. Whether you’re after a new adventure or just a change of scenery, your ChipHead server is ready for whatever comes next.
