Changing the Difficulty Settings for Your 7 Days to Die Server

Guide on how to change difficulty

You can customise nearly every aspect of your 7 Days to Die server through the serverconfig.xml file - including the game’s difficulty level. There are six difficulty options, each offering a different challenge and affecting both player and zombie damage.

Changing the Difficulty

To adjust your server’s difficulty level:

  1. Log in to your ChipHead Panel and stop your server.

  2. Navigate to Game Config.

  3. Click on </>Raw to access the serverconfig.xml file.

  4. Locate the setting GameDifficulty.

  5. Change its value to the number that matches your desired level (0–5).

  6. Click Save.

  7. Start/restart your server.
